59 cadre taken into preventive custody by the police

The police took into preventive custody 59 cadre of the Left parties, including seven women, when they blocked road in front of the head post office here on Saturday in protest against the visit of the U.S. President Obama to India.

The U.S. had always been adopting a big brother attitude, and has indulged in destroying the wealth of the countries world over to keep them under its control.

The U.S. was interfering with the internal affairs of Libya, Syria, Iraq, Afghanisthan, a press release by the Left parties here has said.

The corporate powers of the world have already taking hold of the wealth of India, thanks to the liberal economic policies pursued by the country for the last two decades.

The present Narendra Modi Government was indulging in activities which will only make India a slave country under the U.S. The invitation extended to Mr. Obama to participate in the prestigious Republic Day celebrations was not in the interest of the country, and deserved condemnation, the release said.

Mr. Obama’s visit will have a telling impact on the sovereignty and freedom of India and the agitation was to protect the interest of the country at all cost.

A. Jeevanantham, district secretary of the CPI, led the agitation. P. Thangavelu, district secretary of the CPI (M) were among those taken to custody.

The CPI, the CPI (M), the CPI (ML), and the Socialist Unity Centre of India (Communist) participated in the agitation.
