Reacting to the attack on CPI (M) office in Coimbatore, party State secretary G. Ramakrishnan said communal forces in the city were on the rise again.
“In the past, the CPI(M) played a significant role in restoring peace in Coimbatore after communal incidents. It is worrying that forces seeking to disrupt communal harmony are on the rise again,” Mr. Ramakrishnan said.
Condemning the attack, DMK working president M.K. Stalin said the AIADMK government should arrest those seeking to disrupt law and order.

In a statement, Tamil Nadu Congress Committee president Su. Thirunavukkarasar said the incident was one more indication of how law and order had deteriorated in the State.
VCK president Thol. Thirumavalavan said communal elements were trying to take advantage of the prevailing instability. Pointing to the recent attack of the CPI(M) office in Kanniyakumari, he said a larger conspiracy was taking place. He demanded that those responsible should be charged under the National Security Act.
CPI State secretary R. Mutharasan, MDMK founder Vaiko and TMC president G.K. also condemned the attack.
