The question of the PMK entering the DMK alliance does not arise as PMK leader S. Ramadoss himself has said that his party had not taken any decision in this regard, Chief Minister M. Karunanidhi said on Tuesday.

“While we have said that the party is in our alliance, the PMK leader has denied it. So the question does not arise,” he said, responding to the question on the possibility of the PMK joining the DMK-Congress combine for the Assembly elections.

“Taking into consideration the circumstances and the contacts established on both sides, I indicated in Delhi that the PMK could also be in the front. I came to know about the denial by the PMK leader while in Delhi. I don't like to join issue with him,” he told reporters at the DMK headquarters, Anna Arivalayam. Mr. Karunanidhi was scheduled to meet Congress president Sonia Gandhi when Dr. Ramadoss clarified the PMK stand.

On seat-sharing arrangements with the Congress, he said the election committee of the DMK and the Congress would discuss the number of seats and identify the constituencies. “The Congress will announce the names of the members of the committee tomorrow or day after tomorrow.”
