Kanchi Kamakoti CHILDS Trust Hospital (KKCTH) has begun the Lymphoma Project that treats children with lymphoma, said P. Ramachandran, Director, Institute of Child Health and Hospital for Children, on Sunday.
Inaugurating a one-day national continuing medical education programme on paediatric hemato oncology, hosted by the CHILDS Trust Medical Research Foundation (CTMRF), the academic arm of KKCTH, he said it was hard to differentiate the children diagnosed with the disease. The children required compassion and commitment from their parents to fight the ordeal.
K. Mathangi Ramakrishnan, Chairperson, CTMRF, said they started the Lymphoma Project a few months ago for protocol-based treatment for children following a liberal donation from a philanthropist. The investigations and treatment are done free. Since June, eight children have been enrolled under this project, of which five have been cured completely and the hospital was looking forward to treat more poor children.

In his presidential address, P.K. Doraiswamy, Chairman, KKCTH, said “child diseases caused more tension to the parents than major diseases in an adult.” Anupam Sachdeva, hemato oncologist from Ganga Ram Hospital, New Delhi, was presented with a medallion and citation.
