KVK holds training on cashew cultivation

Farmers attending a training session on foiler spray of micronutrients on cashew plants at Krishi Vigyan Kendra at Vamban in Pudukottai district on Saturday.

A three-day training on “value addition and good practices in cashew cultivation” organised by Krishi Vigyan Kendra at Vamban, concluded on Saturday. About 40 cashew growers from different parts of the district participated in it and underwent training on various topics — right from crop protection techniques to grafting methodology and soil conservation.

Resource persons led by K. Dhanalakshmi and comprising M. Kathiresan, Babu, Vanitha, K. Geetha, and S. Arumugam, delivered lectures on enhancing the yield in cashew.

The focus is on adoption of grafting technique and foliar spraying, said M. Kathiravan. Suba Marimuthu, coordinator of the programme, said that post-harvest technique was explained to farmers.

A field-level training was organised at Pudhu Nagar in Gandarvakottai where a demonstration on foliar spraying was conducted.
