Kodiveri Dam, favourite spot to beat the heat

Kodiveri Dam is easily the favourite haunt for tourists at this time of the year.

Beating the heat with forceful splattering of water on the head is quite rejuvenative for the hundreds of tourists flocking the location during the summer vacation.

Water falling from the check dam from a height in a silvery cascade is indeed a sight to behold at the peak of summer for tourists.

The channels irrigate over 25,000 acres in Gobi and surroundings. Visitors of all ages could be found taking turns to stand below the water falls. Close by, the play area turns lively with children running here and there.

And very many tourists do not miss out on enjoying coracle rides.

A project on linking Periyakodiveri with the Athany road is presently being carried out by the Highways Department.

The road will enable easy movement of people between Periyakodiveri and Akkaraikodiveri.

The project at the picturesque location involving construction of bridges across the Bhavani River, and Thadapalli and Arakankottai channels is expected to accord a further thrust to footfall, local traders at the tourist spot, said.
