A construction worker was killed, and another suffered injuries when the concrete slab under construction fell on them in the city on Saturday.
A new building for the Salem Corporation is under construction in the city. The concrete work for the portico was completed a month ago.
Ramasamy (27) of Ramanayakkanpalayam, near Attur, and Rathinam (50) 0f Mecheri were involved in the work of removing the extra concrete on the roof of the portico using a drilling machine, when a slab suddenly crashed.

Ramasamy was crushed to death. Rathinam has been admitted to the Government Mohan Kumaramanglam Medical College Hospital.
