Kilakarai sub-registrar, document writer suspended

Published - November 28, 2014 01:49 am IST - RAMANATHAPURAM:

The sub-registrar and the document writer of the Kilakarai sub-registrar office have been suspended after the police registered a criminal case against them for having fraudulently registered a piece of property.

The sub-registrar, the document writer and the web cameraman connived with three other accused and fraudulently registered the property of Abeena Beevi, 75, of Kilakarai, using her photograph to show that she had visited the office and posed before the web camera.

A day after the police booked sub-registrar S. Pullani, who put in 25 years of service, under Sections 419, 420, 467, 468 and 471 of the Indian Penal Code (IPC), the Inspector-General of Registration ordered his suspension on Wednesday on the basis of a report sent by the District Registrar, official sources said. The order was pasted on the door by the District Registrar as Pullani was at large.

A special team of the anti-land grab unit has already arrested three persons, including the buyer.

Meanwhile, the District Registrar suspended document writer Ganesan and recommended to the Deputy Inspector-General of Registration further action against him, the sources said.

Superintendent of Police N.M. Mylvahanan said a report on Pullani’s involvement was being sent to the District Registrar. Pullani moved the Madurai Bench of the Madras High Court for anticipatory bail, and an Inspector of Police had already posted the government pleader with the details of the case.
