Jewellery, cash stolen from Head Constable’s house

A day after burglars looted 80 sovereign gold jewellery from the house of a Police Inspector in police quarters in Shevvapet, burglars broke into the house of a Head Constable and decamped with eight sovereign gold jewellery and Rs. 80,000 here on Monday.

Gubendran (39) of Vennandur, who lives in the ground floor of E-6 block, left for night duty on Sunday. His wife Renuka and two children left for their relative’s house in Erode on Sunday.

On Monday morning Gubendran returned home and found the lock of front door broken. He found dress materials scattered inside the house and jewellery and cash kept in the almirah missing.

He informed the Shevapet police. Sniffer dogs and fingerprint experts were pressed into service.

Inquiries revealed that burglars had used duplicate keys to open the almirah to commit the crime.
