All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam general secretary and Chief Minister Jayalalithaa on Tuesday distributed prizes to winners of various sports tournaments organised by the Karur unit of the party and State Transport Corporations to mark her birthday.
Twenty-eight teams, comprising 262 members, were given gold coins of 512 grams or 64 sovereign besides trophies and certificates. The tournaments were held for college students.
Addressing the winners, she exhorted them to bring fame to Tamil Nadu and India by winning State-level and national-level tournaments. She assured the participants from the transport corporations that her government would provide all necessary help and concessions to them.
