Inspect all govt. buildings: Collector

Urges them to ensure that they are free from water stagnation

Government buildings in the district should be inspected by the end of this week and certified as free from water stagnation and unwanted things, Collector S.A. Raman told officials on Tuesday.

Chairing a review meeting to discuss measures taken to control dengue in Vellore district, Mr. Raman said all government office buildings including the departments of rural development, agriculture, school education, college education, animal husbandry, forest, electricity board, transport, and hospitals, police stations, primary health centres, hostels for school and college students, TASMAC shops, anganwadi centres, industries, Tamil Nadu Housing Board quarters, buildings of primary cooperative credit societies should be inspected, and cleared of unwanted things by the end of this week.

The Collector should be informed that the premises of government buildings were free from water stagnation, according to a press release.

Mr. Raman asked officials of the Backward Classes and Adi Dravidar Welfare department to take up mosquito control measures at students hostels, while the Chief Educational Officer and Joint Director were instructed to concentrate on conducting inspections in all government and private schools and colleges in the district.

Agriculture officers were told to clean up buildings under the department’s control and inform farmers to take up mosquito control measures. The Joint Director/Deputy Directors of Health have been asked to ensure that primary health centres were kept clean. Inspector of Factories and officials of Tamil Nadu Pollution Control Board should conduct checks at all private firms and buildings under construction.

Officials of the Transport department were asked to inspect depots and ensure that there were no water collection in tyres. The Collector directed the officials of local bodies to conduct enumeration of households and hotels in their limits and ensure that mosquito control works continued.
