Illicit arrack seized from car

The Prohibition Enforcement Wing (PEW) police seized 500 litres of illicit arrack smuggled from Puducherry in a vehicle at Kepparmalai near here on Wednesday.

Acting on a tip-off, a team led by Cuddalore New Town Sub-Inspector Baskar was conducting vehicle checks near the Regional Transport Office at Kepparmalai when they signalled a car coming in the opposite direction to stop. The car driver fled the scene.

The police found 500 litres of illicit arrack smuggled from Puducherry concealed in the vehicle. The police seized the contraband and launched a search for the car driver.
