The Madras High Court has directed the Puducherry Superintendent of Police to conduct a test identification parade of police officers through videoconferencing in a matter relating to the alleged forcing of minor girls to have sex with them.
Justice P.N. Prakash passed the order when the bail petition filed by A. Tamilselvan, who had lent his building to a Sub-Inspector, came up for hearing.
He said the police officers had come in uniform and had sex with the girls. The only obstacle for the victims was that they did not know the names of the officers. Therefore, it was not necessary for the magistrate to conduct an identification parade as it was normally being done by making the suspects stand amid similar looking persons. In this case, the victims could be made to identify the officers through videoconferencing in the presence of a woman magistrate.

When the bail petition came up, R. Muruganandam, executive secretary, Human Rights and Consumer Protection Society, Puducherry, filed an intervening petition, seeking a CBI probe.
The Public Prosecutor, Puducherry, submitted that till now eight police officers had been placed under suspension.
