Honorary doctorate for Nirupama Rao

Ambassador of India to the U.S. Nirupama Rao and former Chief Justice of India M.N. Venkatachaliah will be conferred honorary doctorates – Doctor of Letters (honoris causa) – at the 22 convocation of Pondicherry University, Vice-Chancellor J.A.K. Tareen said.

Addressing the media here on Tuesday, Mr. Tareen said Ms. Rao would also deliver the convocation address at the graduation ceremony to be held on May 19.

As many as 16,755 degrees would be given away on the day - 12,624 regular degrees and 4,131 distance education degrees.

Union Minister of State in the Prime Minister's Office V. Narayanasamy, Lieutenant Governor Iqbal Singh, Chief Minister N. Rangasamy and Member of Parliament (Rajya Sabha) P. Kannan would attend the convocation.
