Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde assures speedy investigation into the pipe bomb found under Minister of State in Prime Minister’s Office V. Narayanasamy's car in Puducherry

The Minister of State in Prime Minister’s Office V. Narayanasamy said that he apprised Home Minister Sushil Kumar Shinde of the pipe bomb found under his car, parked outside his home in Puducherry. Speaking to The Hindu over phone from New Delhi on Wednesday, he said he spoke to the Home Minister and narrated all information received from Puducherry.

The Home Minister, had, in turn, assured him that the matter would be investigated into.. Mr. Narayansamy had shared all inputs with the senior officials of Central intelligence agencies when they spoke to him.

Mr. Shinde had taken up the matter to Prime Minister Manmohan Singh, he added.

When asked whether it was a plot directed against him, Mr. Narayanasamy said he didn’t want to say anything at the moment as investigation was on.

Asking the Congress cadres to remain calm, Mr. Narayansamy said he had full faith on the Puducherry police in taking take stern action against the perpetrators of the crime, as the territorial administration must be vigilant and lives and properties of people should be protected.

He said he had been of the view that the law and order situation in Puducherry had to be taken care of.

The incident had proved that there was no safety for politicians and others. However, he believed the present police machinery would solve the case expeditiously, he added.

Though Law and Order was a State subject, the Centre would offer all possible help if needed by the Puducherry police. On its part, the Intelligence Bureau was also following the matter, Mr. Narayanasamy added.

‘Will not be cowed down’

He said he would not be cowed down by any forces or elements and that the need of the hour was a free and fair probe, in order to bring the culprits to book.

The nature of the pipe bomb suggested that it must have come from outside Puducherry, as it did not like country bomb.
