‘Hindutva forces behind attack on CPI(M) office in Coimbatore’

ÇPI(M) vows to fight forces that pose a threat to communal harmony.

Condemning the attack on its office, the Communist Party of India (Marxist) in a release said it was yet another act of “Hindutva forces” on the party’s leaders and establishments.

“The Hindutva and communal elements were engaged in attacking party workers and offices. A few days ago, in New Delhi, RSS goons attacked the general secretary Sitaram Yechury. This is a continuation of the assault.”

The Coimbatore unit would not be cowed down by assaults and would continue to strive to isolate communal elements, the release added.

‘Act of cowardice’

In the protest held in the evening, the party’s district Secretary V. Ramamoorthy called the hurling of bombs an act of cowardice and blamed forces that were inimical to communal peace and harmony.

The CPI (M) would continue to unite like-minded parties in its fight for democracy and against divisive forces, he said.

District leaders from the Communist Party of India, Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, Congress, Marumalarchi Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam, Viduthalai Chiruthaigal Katchi and a few other parties participated in the protest.
