As the Model Code of Conduct (MCC) of Election Commission of India (ECI) is in force, the 45-day government exhibition was inaugurated by the District Collector Sajjansingh Chavan in the presence of K. Thanappa, Joint Director (Exhibitions) of Department of Information and Public Relations (DIPR) and other officials without the presence of of politicians here on Friday.
The government exhibition inaugurated at “Anathai Madam” ground near S.T. Hindu College would be open to public for 45 days.
The exhibition hosts over 30 government stalls put up by various departments, 5 private stalls and 15 shops with amusement facilities.

The expo would be open from 4 p.m. to 10 p.m. and special buses would be operated from various destinations to the venue.
Cultural programmes with social themes and various competitions would be held in the evenings. The entry fee for adults was fixed at Rs.15 and for children Rs.10, the Collector added.
Speaking on the occasion, Mr. Thanappan said that the 172nd government exhibition was inaugurated in Madurai on April 16, and the 173rd in Coimbatore on April 24. The exhibition was organized in Nagercoil for the second year in a row. Last year 69,203 visitors including 53,494 adults visited the expo. The department earned a revenue of Rs. 5.21 lakh. The government earned Rs. 35.05 crore by conducting exhibitions across the State till last year. District Revenue Officer S. Elango and other officials participated.
