The district registered 91.76 pass percentage in the SSLC public examination. Girls fared better than boys in the district.
In all, 25,645 students, including 12,726 boys and 12,919 girls, appeared for the examination. Of them, 23,532 students, including 11,373 boys and 12,159 girls, emerged successful.
S. Paulin Cinthiya of Vivega Matriculation Higher Secondary School in Viralimalai secured the district-level first rank with 498 marks.

N. Arul Murugan, Chief Educational Officer, said that five candidates with 497 marks secured the district-level second rank. The district-third rank went to 13 students with 496 marks each.
The following were district second rank-holders: V. Shammem Banu and S. Ajaykumar, S.F.S. Matriculation HSS; T. Kowsalya, Mount Zion MHSS, and R. Sivalini, Laurel HSS, Kurumbakadu, and N. Sneka, Arulmari MHSS, Gandharvakottai.

Ishwarya, Reenamercy Matriculation School, Karambakudi; A. Lavanya, Amala Annai MHSS, Ponnamaravathy; J. Sanofar Fathima from Holy Cross Matriculation School, Alangudi, and M. Sweetha from Vidyaa Vikas MHSS, Gandharvakottai.

100 p.c. pass at Borstal School
All the 10 juveniles accommodated at the Borstal School and District Jail passed the SSLC public examination.
Sankarpandi secured the first rank among them with 385 marks, Marikani stood second with 379 marks while the third position went to Prabakaran who got 367 marks.
