Funds allotted for giving subsidised farm equipment

The Tamil Nadu government has allotted Rs.59 lakhs to Vellore district to distribute 152 modern farm machinery and equipments to Adi Dravida / tribal / other farmers at a subsidised price during 2014-15.

According to a release from the Executive Engineer (Agricultural Engineering), Vellore, the government has been distributing modern farm machinery and equipments to farmers through the Agricultural Engineering Department under the National Agricultural Development Programme to overcome the problem of shortage of labour, to complete the work on time and to increase the yield.

The Collector of Vellore R. Nanthagopal distributed 19 such farm equipments comprising 10 power tillers, one multi-grain harvester, four rotavators, two weeding equipments, and two powers sprayers totally worth Rs.22.54 lakhs (including a subsidy component of Rs.9.85 lakhs) to 19 farmers during the agricultural grievances day meeting at the Collectorate here on Friday.

The Collector also distributed on the occasion revolving fund worth Rs.11.20 lakhs to 30 self-help groups under the District Watershed Development Agency, and incentive of Rs.88,000 to 32 farmers.
