Union Minister for Human Resource Development Prakash Javadekar on Friday said the reduction in fuel prices announced by the Centre came as a “huge relief” to consumers.

The Narendra Modi government must be complimented for the reduction of ₹ 2.50 on its part in fuel price, Mr. Javadekar told reporters at the Tiruchi international airport.

Thirteen Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP)-ruled States reduced the price of petroleum products by another ₹ 2.50. “Those who consume petrol and diesel will get ₹ 5 as relief. This is a huge relief and this is where we have taken the lead now,” Mr. Javadekar said.
