Four cases of ‘unnatural deaths’ were reported from different parts of city on Monday.
Muthu, 38, a labourer in Kannagi Nagar, was addicted to alcohol for long. On Saturday, he attempted to commit suicide by biting a live wire in his house. As he was injured, he was admitted to the Government Royapettah Hospital for treatment. While he was undergoing treatment at the ward, on Sunday he jumped from the fourth floor of the hospital. He was rushed to the Rajiv Gandhi Government General Hospital, where he was declared brought dead.
Another incident was reported from Puzhal in Monday . A 75-year-old man jumped from the fourth floor of an apartment on Ambattur High Road and died on the spot. The victim has been identified as Henry, who was working in BSNL, Bengaluru. At dawn, his son found his father lying in a pool of blood on the ground. The Puzhal police are investigating whether he committed suicide.

Yet another case was reported in West Mambalam, in which the wife of an AIADMK functionary was found hanging in their neighbours’ balcony. Police said Selvi, 48, wife of Nagaraj, 48, in Adikeseva Perumal Koil Street took the extreme step after a marriage proposal of her son went awry. She was reportedly depressed for sometime.
In Avadi, Nesakumar, a call taxi driver committed suicide by hanging in his house on Sunday. He got married two months ago. He used to create a scene under the influence of alcohol among the family members and had threatened to commit suicide.
