Four fishermen rescued

Four fishermen from Keezha Manakkudi in Kanniyakumari district stranded in sea were rescued by the police personnel attached to the Coastal Security Group from about three nautical miles from Muttom on Friday night.

According to CSG sources, four fishermen Dasan (45) of Keezha Manakkudi, his son D. Sagaya Antony and two others Dinesh and John Christen had ventured into the sea for fishing on Friday morning and did not return in the evening.

Fishermen had gone into the sea after the fishing ban period of 61 days ended on Thursday.

Their anixous family members had informed the Coastal Security Group police on this. The fishermen blamed engine failure for their plight. The CSG police, who were patrolling the area, responded to the pleas of fishermen.
