Four arrested following raid on hookah bars in Nungambakkam

The Nungambakkam police on Monday raided two restaurants that were operating hookah lounges on their premises on Nungambakkam High Road and arrested four persons.

The raid was conducted by the police following complaints that illegal hookah lounges in the city had clientèle who were minors. The police team first entered the first floor of a residential tower and nabbed Yesudoss, 41, of Nungambakkam, and Raji Sammil, 23, while another person escaped.

The team raided another premises on Nungambakkam High Road and arrested Margi, 34, and Kathiravan, who were operating the lounge. Raids were also conducted in Teynampet.

The arrested persons were released immediately as the offence is bailable. The police seized pan masala products, pipes and other materials from them.
