Focus is on development of Kanniyakumari: MLAs

DMK, Congress MLAs of all the six constituencies in Kanniyakumari district – N. Suresh Rajan (Nagercoil), S. Austin (Kanniyakumari), T. Mano Thangaraj (Padmanabhapuram), S. Vijayadharini (Vilavancode), S. Rajesh Kumar (Killiyoor) and J.G. Prince (Colachel) -- said that they would strive hard for all-round development of the district.

People of Kanniyakumari district feared that development would be affected as a majority in all six Assembly constituencies voted against the AIADMK that came to power in the State. This apprehension found expression in various social media platforms after the results were announced on May 19.

The MLAs, who addressed reporters jointly in Nagercoil on Friday, said, “Just because the ruling party has bit the dust in the district, it should not neglect the welfare and development of Kanniyakumari and, instead, cooperate with the elected representatives for the common cause.”

They said that they would raise their voice in the Assembly for implementation of development works in the district. victory. The MLAs, who met Superintendent of Police, G. Dharmarajan, said it was a courtesy meeting.
