Feasibility of textile park in Gudiyatham to be studied

Vellore Collector R. Nanthagopal has asked the officials to explore the possibility of establishing a textile park in Gudiyatham in response to the long-pending demand from the people’s representatives and the textile industry of Gudiyatham.

Participating in the meeting of the District Planning Committee at the Collectorate here on Wednesday, Mr. Nanthagopal also asked the officials to expedite the schemes of rejuvenation of well irrigation sources in Narasingapuram in Alangayam union (at a cost of Rs.30 lakhs), Melakuppam panchayat in Alangayam union (Rs.40.50 lakhs), Vanakkambadi panchayat in Thimiri union (Rs.39 lakhs), Durgam panchayat in Thimiri union (Rs.40 lakhs) and Mandalanayanagunta panchayat in Kandili union (Rs.28 lakhs).

The possibility of establishing the taluk headquarters hospital for Katpadi taluk in K.V. Kuppam was discussed at the meeting which was presided over by Dr. Leela Subramani, Chairperson of the Vellore District Panchayat and the president of the DPC.

Other schemes

Other schemes discussed at the meeting included the construction of a tourist bungalow in Ponnai Anaicut in Katpadi taluk, provision of mobile veterinary dispensary equipped with special treatment facilities in all panchayat unions, establishment of a government women’s college in K.V. Kuppam, a government polytechnic college between Baradharami and Kallappadi in Gudiyatham taluk,

upgradation of the Government High School in Kallappadi into a higher secondary school, construction of compound wall around the Government Higher Secondary School in Azhinjikuppam in Pernambut panchayat union, the augmentation of water resources in three irrigation lakes in Kandili panchayat union, laying of road for public use in forest areas and the establishment of a special school for the differently-abled persons.

Anbazhagan, vice-president of the DPC, Lokanayaki, Project Officer of the Women’s Development Project and Annamalai, secretary of the District Panchayat participated in the meeting.
