Condemning Corporation authorities over erratic drinking water supply, residents of Magilchipuram blocked vehicular traffic on Anna Nagar Road near fourth railway level crossing here on Monday.

One of the protesters, R. Selvi, said that though water was supplied to areas near Magilchipuram two days ago, there was no supply to their area for the past 10 days. Tahsildar S. Chandran, who arrived at the spot along with police, spoke to the corporation authorities. He was told that owing to leakage caused by a burst in pipeline, water supply got affected in Magilchipuram. He said that the authorities had assured that water supply would be restored in their area within two hours and pacified the agitators following which they dispersed.

Residents of Boopalarayarpuram also staged a similar agitation. They were irked over non-supply of water for over a week. Mr. Chandran assured them that water supply would be restored to their area soon.
