The Election Commission has issued a show cause notice to Highways and Minor Ports Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami for having met Block Development Officer of the Yercaud Panchayat Union M. Jayaraman in violation of the model code of conduct in view of the Yercaud by-election slated for December 4.
The meeting took place at the Salem residence of the Minister on November 16 and the same day, the BDO was suspended by Salem Collector and District Election Officer K. Maharabhushanam.
