Dowry harassment case against engineer

Colachel police have registered case against an engineer, his mother and seven others for allegedly demanding more dowry from his wife.

In her complaint, Mary Sindhuja (26) of Kurumbanai, a college lecturer, said she was married to Vincent Ramesh, an engineer from Melamanakkudi in 2011. Parents of the bride reportedly gave 107 sovereigns of gold ornaments and Rs. 5 lakh as cash as dowry at the time of marriage.

However, Ms. Sindhuja was tortured by her mother-in-law and her relatives to give Rs. 2 lakh more, she said in a complaint.

Based on the complaint, the case was filed against Vincent Ramesh, his mother Anthoniammal and seven others.
