Don’t politicise drought: Minister

Claiming that the government was taking efforts on a war footing to tackle the water scarcity across the State, Minister of Municipal Administration and Rural Development S.P. Velumani said the issue should not be politicised. He also requested the media to stress on the need to conserve water in the face of the drought, which is said to one of the worst that the State has seen in the last 142 years.

“The government is prepared to manage any situation. The Chief Minister too has chaired several review meetings over the issue and steps are being taken on a war footing to tackle water shortage,” Mr. Velumani said.
