Condemning the Central and the State Governments for pursuing “anti-people policies” and demanding CBI enquiry into the suicide of agricultural engineering department officer S. Muthukumarasamy, the Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam cadres staged demonstration here on Friday.
The protestors said the Centre’s land acquisition bill was against the farmers and hence it should be withdrawn. They also condemned the AIADMK for backing the controversial Bill in the Lok Sabha.
The agitators said Muthukumarasamy was forced to commit suicide as he was compelled to take bribe from newly appointed drivers. To bring out the truth and the culprits behind this crime, the case should be handed over to the CBI.

DMK’s Tirunelveli central district secretary Abdul Wahab presided over the agitation held in front of Tirunelveli Railway Junction in which former minister and Palayamkottai MLA T.P.M. Mohideen Khan, party office-bearers A.L.S. Lakshmanan, Suba. Seetharaman and others participated.
In the demonstration organised at Cheranmahadevi on behalf of the DMK’s east Tirunelveli district wing, former Speaker R. Avudaiyappan, former minister Poongothai, former MLA M. Appavu and others participated. The DMK cadres also organised agitation at Tenkasi in which Rajya Sabha MP S. Thangavelu participated.

Spearheading an agitation near VVD signal, Tamilan Prasanna, an orator of DMK, condemned the Central and State governments for supporting the bill.
