Enthused by the assurance given by the party’s office-bearers in various districts that they would bury their differences and work united in the 2016 Assembly election, DMK leader M. Karunanidhi called upon the partymen to strive hard and put Tamil Nadu on the path of progress.

In his birthday message, he said the next duty before the party was to announce candidates for the Assembly elections scheduled for next year.

“We are going to face those who are ready to achieve anything through money. Our candidates should have courage and support in the field to take up the challenge,” he said.

Mr. Karunanidhi said the State could witness election to the Assembly anytime, even though there was an expectation it could be held by end of the current year. “People of the State are also prepared to pack off the ruling party as they were subjected to enormous difficulties in four years,” he said.

Stressing the need for election fund to take on the ruling party, he said the party had so far collected over Rs eight crore.

“I developed pain constantly receiving money from our partymen. Election fund is not enough. The field work that will ensure victory in the election is paramount,” he said.
