DMK working president M.K. Stalin on Wednesday began a day-long fast in Tiruchi, seeking a fresh trust vote in the Assembly.

Besides a large number of party cadres, leaders of DMK's allies, including the Congress and the Indian Union Muslim League also participated in the fast.

Condemning the way in which the trust vote was moved by Chief Minister Edapadi K. Palaniswani in the State Assembly on Saturday, Mr. Stalin said the DMK would take up the matter with President Pranab Mukherjee on Thursday.

The DMK leaders and party cadres are observing fasts across the State.
