DMK, BJP deny report on poll pact

Both the DMK and the BJP on Thursday dismissed reports that they were involved in talks to strike an electoral deal.

Even though DMK president M. Karunanidhi at the party’s State conference in Tiruchi made it clear that political parties committed to secularism, social justice and the Sethusamudram project alone would have place in the alliance led by his party, there are reports that the BJP is keen on an electoral pact with the DMK.

DMK treasurer M.K. Stalin described the reports as “incorrect” and said the party leadership “could not be expected to react when it had nothing to do with them.”
