The food safety officials here on Wednesday sealed a slaughter house, and demolished another for violating guidelines. T. Kalaivani, Designated officer, Tamil Nadu Food Safety and Drug Administration Department, said that the slaughter houses were found to be violating all guidelines.

The animals were huddled together, and meat was hung out in the open. Slaughter houses were not allowed retail selling of meat, she said.

The slaughter houses were not hygienic, and no drain has been provided to discharge waste.

The meat should be covered within a glass case, which has not been followed. The department had served three show-cause notices on the violators. The slaughter houses were located in residential areas.

Inspections were conducted in several other outlets. Notices were served on some more slaughter houses.
