Court issues summons to Cheran, daughter

The Judicial Magistrate Court here has issued summons to film director-actor Cheran and his daughter to appear before the court on March 10 in connection with a cheque bounce case. When the case filed by Palaniappa Traders, represented by its founder C. Palaniappan, came up for hearing on Thursday, Judicial Magistrate II N. Veluchamy ordered issue of summons to Mr. Cheran and his daughter.

The petitioner said that Mr. Cheran who had floated C2H Network appointed distributors for releasing films, and he was one of them. Mr. Cheran, founder-director of the company, and his daughter Nivetha Priyadarshini, MD, issued him a cheque for Rs. 8.40 lakh for the losses he suffered in film distribution. He deposited the cheque in a bank here thrice but it bounced.
