Cotton auction

Cotton worth Rs. 2 crore was auctioned at the Konganapuram branch of the Tiruchengode Cooperative Agricultural Marketing Society near here in the last two days.

A total of 13,103 bags of cotton brought by farmers of Edappadi, Dharmapuri, Krishnagiri, Salem, Poolampatti, Koneripatti and Siluvampalayam were auctioned on Friday and Saturday. While the PT cotton variety fetched a price between Rs. 3,450 and Rs. 3,919 per quintal; the DCH variety fetched a price between Rs. 4,450 and Rs. 4,850, society sources said.
