Corrosion Awareness Day

The National Corrosion Council of India, in collaboration with Central Electrochemical Research Institute, Karaikudi, organised Corrosion Awareness Day on April 8 at Kalasalingam University, Krishnankoil. It aimed at enlightening the impact of corrosion and motivate young researchers to pursue corrosion research for future technologies. Nearly 250 delegates/students from various colleges and schools participated in the event, which also featured a poster presentation. Eminent personalities delivered lectures on corrosion and its control, concrete corrosion and corrosion studies. The event was inaugurated by P. Selvavinayagam, Chief Station Chemist, Chemistry Control Laboratory, Kudankulam Nuclear Power Project. S. Shasi Anand, Director, Kalasalingam University, delivered the presidential address. S. Saravanasankar, Vice-Chancellor, released the souvenir, M. Adam Khan of the Department of Mechanical Engineering welcomed the gathering and G. T. Parthiban, Chief Scientist, CECRI, proposed a vote of thanks.

Placement Day

Placement Day was organised at Sethu Institute of Technology, Kariapatti, on April 16. A.K. Pattabiraman Krishnaswamy, Head, Accreditation Process, TCS, who was the chief guest, advised the engineers acquire the habit of learning as a tool, which should be updated. D. Manahore Devadoss, COO, Technip, pointed out that quality and commitment should go hand in hand for students to succeed. Founder-chairman S. Mohamed Jaleel presided over the function. CEO S.M. Seenimohideen and JCEO S.M. Seeni Mohamed Azhiar offered felicitations. Principal A. Senthil Kumar welcomed the gathering. The major recruiters at the college were TCS, IBM, Renault Nissan Technip IVIL, Solarits, Sun Pressing and Hitech Array. Offer letters were distributed to placed students on the occasion. Placement Officers Jesuraj and Ramesh presented the annual placement report.

National conference

The seventh national conference on “Advanced technologies in electrical engineering (ATEE’16)” was organised on April 15 by the Department of Electrical and Electronics Engineering of Kamaraj College of Engineering and Technology, Virudhunagar. The conference was inaugurated by K. Jeyaprakash, Lead Electronic Hardware Engineer, General Electric, who also delivered the keynote address on “Importance of curriculum in industry perspective”. Participants from various institutions presented technical papers at the conference. A. Anant Achary, Principal, offered felicitations.
