Constable found dead

A constable of the India Reserve Battalion in Puducherry, who was missing since March 20, was found dead under mysterious circumstances near a road median at Sendamangalam in the district on Saturday.

The victim was identified as Ragupathy (31), an IRBn constable posted at the Central Prison in Puducherry. Police said Ragupathy residing at Mudaliarpet left home on Friday morning and did not return. His wife Thamaraiselvi filed a missing complaint.

Meanwhile, passers-by noticed a body lying near a road median in Sendamangalam and informed the Ulundurpet police. The body was retrieved and sent for post-mortem to the Villupuram Government General Hospital.

The police identified the body as that of Ragupathy as already a missing complaint had been filed in the Mudaliarpet station.

His family went to Villupuram and identified the body. A case has been registered under Section 304 a (causing death by negligence). However, the police are not ruling out the possibility of murder.
