Chief Minister Jayalalithaa has condoled the death of veteran actress S.N. Lakshmi.
In a message on Tuesday, she stated that Lakshmi had carved a niche for herself in movies, acting with several leading actors, including former Chief Minister M.G. Ramachandran and herself.
An extremely modest and affable character, she won a number of awards, including the Kalaimamani and Kalaichelvam. Besides acting in more than 1,500 movies and 6,000 dramas, she had been acting in the small screen also for the past few years, Ms.Jayalalithaa recalled.

Her death is a major loss to the world of cinema and drama, she added.
