The title clash to decide the world chess champion will be held in Chennai in April-May next year. This is the first time that the championship match comes to India.
The title clash will be between defending champion Viswanathan Anand and Israel's Boris Gelfand.
Chief Minister Jayalalithaa passed orders for the conduct of the World Chess Championship Title match in 2012 after World Chess Federation Kirsan Illyumzhinov called on her at the Secretariat here on Wednesday and made a request to her, an official press release said.

The event would cost Rs. 20 crore, the release said.
Ten of the 24 Indians who have earned the Grandmaster title are from Tamil Nadu. India stands at the seventh position in the world chess rankings, the release said.
