E. Ilavarasan’s death was only a fall out of the conspiracy by leaders of caste-based political parties in the State, said T. Elango, father of the deceased, in a petition to M. Shivanna, Member, National Commission for Scheduled Castes here on Sunday.

In his petition, Mr. Elango, a record room clerk at the Government Hospital, said there should be an unbiased, impartial and fair investigation to unearth the conspiracy and bring them to book.

The circumstances leading to the death of his son should be investigated by either the Central Bureau of Investigation or a Special Investigation Team. Action should be taken against leaders of the Pattali Makkal Katchi and Divya and his daughter-in-law Divya should be freed from the control of PMK and Vanniyar Sangam leaders, the petition said.

There should be one more post-mortem of the body of Elavarasan and prohibitory orders should be relaxed. Mr Elango wanted that permission be given to leaders of various political parties to attend the funeral of Ilavarasan.

Media kept on toes:

Media personnel were kept on their toes on Saturday night as rumours were rife that N. Divya, Vanniyar girl would visit the mortuary of the Dharmapuri Government Hospital to see the body of E. Ilavarasan.

Based on a call from a police official, at around 9 p.m. over 40 mediapersons assembled before the mortuary where the body of Ilavarasan was kept as per the Madras High Court’s order.

After waiting for sometime, the media persons came to know to their disappointment that there would be no such visit.
