Murthy Remilla, Deputy Head, IRS, ISRO, elaborated on various applications of satellite communication systems, including space, meteorology, agriculture and defence, addressing research scholars at the National Institute of Technology, Tiruchi. S. Raghavan, Professor, Electronics and Communication Engineering, NIT-T, explained the role of microwave engineering in space applications. Students should opt for more research in microwave engineering, he said.

Hard work and sincerity were essential requirement for the students to succeed in life and career, said M. Rajaram, Vice-Chancellor, Anna University, in his Graduation Day address at Mother Terasa College of Engineering and Technology, Pudukottai. He urged the students to take up careers in research-based education with industry orientation. One hundred and thirty students received their degrees. M. Arulkumaran, Principal, presented the annual report. R. Chinnathambi, founder of the college, and R.C. Uthayakumar, chairman, were present.

Mount Zion

The annual day and sports day of Mount Zion College of Engineering and Technology, Pudukottai, was held recently. G. Sivaraman, Managing Director and Chief Siddha Physician, Arogya Health Care, was the chief guest. Jayabarathan Chelliah, chairman, Mount Zion Educational Institutions, presided. P. Balamurugan, Principal, presented the annual report. Yellow house bagged the overall championship at the sports meet. Jayson K. Jayabarathan, Director of the college, gave away the prizes.

Parents and teachers should create an atmosphere conducive for students to be creative and positive, said M.A.S. Habeebur Rahman, Head of the Department of Tamil, Jamal Mohamed College, speaking at the college day of J.J. College of Engineering and Technology. K. Ponnusamy, Chairman, JJ Group of Institutions presided. S. Sathiyamoorthy, Principal, presented the annual report. Mr. Rahman gave away prizes .
