Camps to build harmony earns good response from villagers

Camps involving officials of District Administration and communities at villages in Srivaikuntam to build communal harmony earned a good response. Six camps were conducted at villages in Srivaikunatm taluk in this month and more camps would be held at Kongarayakurichi and its neighbouring village, Collector M. Ravikumar said here on Monday.

Most of the demands of the villagers during the camps were fulfilled.

Out of 40 green houses sought by the villagers, 22 green houses had been given to beneficiaries. Besides, 39 individual toilets, identity cards for 74 workers under Mahatma Gandhi National Rural Employment Guarantee programme, free house site pattas to 74 beneficiaries and new family cards to 19 people were extended, he said while addressing the media.

Moreover, 85 persons got their names enrolled in employment office, 75 others got it renewed and financial assistance for 23 unemployed persons were also extended. Further, the Collector said nod was given to set up eight country bird farms. Bus services to remote localities in and around Isavankulam were resumed. Four mini buses were also made operational, additionally. District Revenue Officer R. Muthu and others were present.
