Bomb hoax at CMC

The Christian Medical College Hospital on Wednesday received a bomb threat call. The personnel of the Bomb Detection and Disposal Squad conducted a search and the threat turned out to be hoax.

Police said the hospital received a phone call at 8.21 a.m. The caller, who spoke in Hindi, said that he had planted bombs in four places on the hospital premises and that it would go off at 10 a.m. There was a second call at 8.32 a.m.

The police were informed and the squad personnel were pressed into action.

A sniffer dog was also involved in the operation. The personnel searched the hospital premises and also the bags of patients. The threat turned out to be hoax.

Police said the call had originated from Gandhi Road, which is opposite the hospital.

A case has been registered in the Vellore North Police station.
