Body of crocodile attack victim recovered

Forest Department officials caught a 4.5-foot-long crocodile straying into the South Street of Kondayiruppu on Tuesday morning

The fire service personnel recovered the body of Chelladurai (65), a resident of Vengayathalaimedu, who was attacked by a crocodile, from a bush along the banks of the Old Kollidam.

The personnel said that the victim suffered deep wounds in the legs indicating that the reptile grabbed him by legs and dragged him into the waters. Chelladurai left home at 7 a.m. but did not return. Meanwhile, the Forest Department officials caught a 4.5-foot-long crocodile straying into the South Street of Kondayiruppu village in Kattumannarkoil on Tuesday morning.

They later released it into a waterbody there.
