BBMP issues advisory on disposal of dry leaves

The city’s streets and roads are carpeted by dry leaves, as trees stand bare. The BBMP has issued an advisory on their disposal.

Cautioning against setting them on fire, as it results in severe air pollution, BBMP Commissioner M. Lakshminarayan has stated that it could attract a fine.

In the advisory, he has appealed to all citizens to cooperate with the BBMP in this drive for safe disposal of dry leaves.

He said that pourakarmikas have been instructed to collect dry leaves and take them to the nearest open ground/park where they can be composted.

Bulk generators have also been instructed to compost dry leaves in their own premises. The composted dry leaves may be collected by citizens/farmers free of cost for use in their gardens and fields.
