The Avvaiyar Award for 2014 will be presented to plastic surgeon and burns treatment specialist K. Mathangi Ramakrishnan, according to the State government.
An official release said Dr.Ramakrishnan, who is also chairperson of CHILDS Trust Medical Research Foundation, Nungambakkam, is being given the award in recognition of her outstanding service.
The annual award carrying a cash prize of Rs.1 lakh, gold medal weighing eight grams, citation and a shawl will be presented on International Women’s Day on March 8, the release said.
