Annual auditing of land accounts begins in Kanyakumari district

Jamabandhi, the annual auditing of village land accounts, began in Agasteeswaram, Thovalai, Kalkulam and Vilavancode taluks in Kanyakumari district on Thursday.

The annual exercise will be held till May 26.

Collector Sajjansingh R. Chavan inaugurated the jamabandhi at Thovalai taluk office. Other officials who will conduct the Jamabandhi are: District Revenue Officer A. Udhayakumar (in Vilavancode taluk), Revenue Divisional Officer Madhiayagan (in Agasteeswaram and Padmanabhapuram) and Revenue Divisional Officer Arun Satya (in Kalkulam taluk).

The people living in the respective taluks can approach the officials for patta, name change in patta, old-age pension, farmers’ identity cards, widows’ pension, assistance to agricultural labourers and other issues related to the Revenue Department.

Mr. Chavan said that immediate action would be taken on petitions submitted by the public. Action would be taken on petitions related to critical or problematic issues within seven or eight working days, he added.

The Collector received 62 petitions in Thovalai taluk on the first day, official sources said.
