Anna varsity students to train abroad

A total of 99 meritorious students — 49 from government engineering colleges and 50 from Anna University — have been selected for training in foreign universities this year.

Seven of the selected students met Chief Minister Edappadi K. Palaniswami on Wednesday and received their visas.

The scheme was announced by former Chief Minister Jayalalithaa in August 2016, which paved the way for students to train in foreign universities for two weeks. Under the scheme, 61 students from mechanical, electrical, electronics, computer science, metallurgy, production technology and information technology, will go to Swinburne University of Technology and 14 students from civil engineering department will go to Leibniz Universitat in Germany. Another group of 24 students from electrical and electronics engineering, and electronics and instrumentation technology will go to Yohohama National University in Japan.
