Collector M. Karunakaran on Monday inaugurated an ‘Amma Cement’ sale outlet in the Self-Help Group Commercial Complex near the new bus stand here.

While cement in other brands is being sold at Rs. 400 a bag in the open market, ‘Amma Cement’ will be available to the public for Rs. 190 a bag. Speaking on the occasion, Dr. Karunakaran said that the outlet for selling ‘Amma Cement’ had been opened near the new bus stand with the objective of helping the poor and the middle class, who could not buy cement in the open market either for constructing or repairing their houses.

On submitting the building plan approval or the authorisation letter issued by the Village Administrative Officer, Revenue Inspector or a senior official from the Department of Rural Development along with the demand draft for the cement bags, names of the applicants would be enrolled in the seniority list being maintained in the outlet.
